DHL Celebrates New $35 Million Chicago Facility with Ribbon Cutting – Yahoo Finance
The three-meter drivers instrument cluster features floating illumination rings and Hondas ECO Assist feature, wherein the speedometer illumination changes from blue to green depending on the fuel efficiency of the drivers vehicle operation. Power comes from a highly refined and responsive 1.8-liter SOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with i-VTEC valvetrain and dual-stage intake manifold, producing an estimated peak 138 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 127 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,300 rpm (both SAE net). The engine is mated to a sporty and fuel-efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Honda G-design shift logic, or a slick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission (2WD models only). The HR-V is available in either two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive drivetrain configurations. All-wheel-drive models feature Hondas Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System for outstanding all-weather traction and control. Driving efficiency, handling performance and cabin quietness are further aided by an aerodynamic shape and a lightweight yet rigid body structure with significant noise-insulating materials and design features.
The three-story building has 491,000 square-feet of office and warehouse space, making it the largest free standing DHL Global Forwarding building in its worldwide network. It is strategically located in the Chicago OHare International Airports cargo zone and is DHL Global Forwardings largest air export gateway. This new DHL Global Forwarding building is a testament to Chicagos burgeoning growth, and can offer local businesses of all sizes a gateway to trade expansion within the U.S. and abroad, said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The City of Chicago is proud to partner with businesses like DHL that want to invest in our community by adding new jobs, promoting commerce and further positioning the city as a leading cargo hub. The building took one year to build and will house 500 employees. It is a bonded Container Freight Station (CFS), a location designated by carriers to receive cargo to be loaded into containers. A portion of the building has been designated a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), a secure area under the supervision of U.S.
